Temple Beth Tikvah is a forward looking, multi-generational, egalitarian Conservative congregation looking to "reJEWvenate" itself in the 21st century. Our mission is to meet the needs of all generations of Jewish people and make TBT relevant for them while continuing to offer the programs and services appreciated by our current congregants. We are seeking to hire a Temple Administrator to be a key member of the leadership team that formulates and oversees operations ensuring smooth daily operation.

He/She will have direct contact with the internal and external communities, both to make strong first impressions and to deliver ongoing positive and supportive relationships with congregants. Attendance at key events and some The successful candidate will be an integral part of a team, working with the clergy, education staff, building personnel, lay leaders and volunteers to make our services, programming and daily operation happen fluidly for all.

Primary responsibilities include: Administration and Program support, membership, Personnel Management, Financial Operations, Communication, Office Technology, High Holy Days’ Logistics and Facility Administration. The successful candidate should be a self-starter who sets priorities and carries them out in an efficient, organized fashion.
Responsibilities:
Administration and Program Support

Coordinate administrative aspects of programs and services and the day-to-day operation of the synagogue:

• Share files and upgrade skills and technology of staff
• Create and maintain Temple calendar
• Establish procedure for purchase of supplies
• Manage and upgrade member data files
• Update, review and revise all forms. i.e. membership, Yahrtzeit notices, etc
• inventory control
• Provide leadership with reports, information, and analyses as needed. Assist congregants and committees in their planning for the administrative aspects of their events and programs, including Zoom events. Provide administrative support for the Rabbi and Hebrew School Principal.
Membership

Serve as the first point of contact for inquiries regarding the synagogue, including membership, programming, and utilization of space. Assist the Membership Committee with recruitment and retention, welcoming new and prospective members and integrating them into the synagogue family. Maintain positive interactions with members and volunteers to sustain and grow member involvement. Create reporting to track membership and donation statistics to share with the Membership Committee and Board.

Personnel

Hire and supervise the office staff. Implement personnel policies, maintain staff team building and administer employee benefits program in conjunction with lay leadership.
Financial operations

Oversee the receipt of income and the payment of bills to ensure accurate accounting and proper attribution to general ledger accounts:

• Maintain all hard copy filling i.e. contracts
• Maintain all office equipment contracts and repairs
• Do all bookeeping including membership billing, payroll & A/P
• Assist the Treasurer in preparing an annual budget and assuring its implementation.
• Gather all information for all insurance renewals to include health, liability, directors,etc.

Communication:

Manage the synagogue calendar. Coordinate communications tools with the Rabbi, Hebrew School Principal, and lay leadership. Supervise the creation of content through the website, e-newsletter, email, banners, and mailings for timely and accurate dissemination of information. Bring strategy and creativity to communications activities.
Technology:

Coordinate office technology including office computers and software (such as Constant Contact, ShulCloud and Quickbooks). Work with technical support to troubleshoot problems. Ensure that key staff are trained in the use of relevant software.
High Holy Days:

Coordinate logistics and administrative aspects of the High Holy Days. Produce print material and prepare directions for staff and volunteers.
Facility Administration:

Coordinate with outside security providers and other building related vendors. Manage rental of synagogue space, including our regular tenant and ad hoc staffing needs for private rentals.

Job Requirements:

• Has demonstrated the effective administration of a comparable organization.
• Good judgment and problem-solving skills, with the ability to plan for the logistical needs of programs and services.
• Flexible, organized and detail oriented.
• Ability to prioritize multiple ongoing and developing tasks, while following through on long-and short-term responsibilities.
Computer expertise: Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Windows, Mac OSX, Zoom, Canva (creation of marketing materials)
Social Media expertise: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Linkedin, TikTok
• Excellent interpersonal skills and experience interacting with a membership base, volunteers, and lay leaders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills,
• Experience with ShulCloud and QuickBooks or comparable software.
• Knowledge of Judaism, the Jewish calendar, Jewish lifecycle basics, Shabbat, and Kashrut basics.
• A Bachelor’s degree (preferred) and 3-5 years of professional experience.
Schedule:

Full-time, Monday through Friday (some evening and weekend work required)

Salary range: $60,000 - $70,000 (based on credentials and experience)
